Compassionate, Competent and Committed Therapy

Compassionate, Competent and Committed Therapy

About Me

A native Southern Californian, I have recently relocated to the East Bay to be with family.

Early in my working life, I practiced law. In the late 80s, I transitioned from the law profession into the retail business and then served in various executive capacities for two highly successful, nationwide clothing companies. I retired from the retail business in 2001 and, in 2003, returned to graduate school to pursue my passion for psychology and a new career as a marriage and family therapist. I have been a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist since 2009 - receiving my certification as an EMDR therapist in 2014.

I believe that I'm more uniquely qualified to help people in need of counseling services than some other therapists because I've personally experienced many of life's challenges and have grown or changed as a result of my own counseling experiences. As a client, I have enjoyed knowing that I'm sitting across the room from someone who has done their own work and I would expect that is an important consideration for you as well.

Being a father and a grandfather, in a successful 43-year marriage, who has worked in three different careers, provides me with a solid foundation of experience and wisdom to be of optimum assistance to my clients.

In my spare time, I like to walk, meditate, read, work crossword puzzles, spend time at the beach, listen to music, and play drums.

Inspirations

Some of my favorite quotes include:

"The significant problems we face cannot be solved at the same level of thinking we were at when we created them." (Albert Einstein)

"Men are not disturbed by things, but by the view they take of them." (Epictetus)

"The heart has reasons that reason cannot know." (Blaise Pascal)

"Outer experience is a reflection of inner reality." (Author Unknown)
